And here begins the actual roleplay! This starts at the S.H.I.E.L.D. base in Chicago. The idea is that Tanya traveled all over to personally recruit the new people, and she sent them back to S.H.I.E.L.D. in her hometown to wait for her. The curtains open over a scene with Tanya in the lounge, waiting for all the others to join her for a meeting. Note: For the sake of this roleplay, we're saying that the final battle in The Avengers took place in San Francisco instead of NYC. Just to make it a little easier on myself. Also, I'm changing Tanya's age to 18.
Tanya tapped her foot impatiently on the ground. Director Fury had generously granted her and her team a decently sized lounge for meetings such as this one, their first one. There was a circle of comfortable couches and one armchair (in which Tanya was now sprawled) around a table. On the table rested several trays of food- fruits, vegetables, sandwiches, cheese, etc.- and some pitchers of lemonade and coffee. She poured herself some coffee and sipped it slowly while her mind whirled with the enormity of what she had to do. Somehow she had to convince a group of superhumans to follow her- she did have the first step covered, getting them here, but it would be difficult to speak to all of them at once- recruit one more person, and then figure out a game plan for rescuing the actual Avengers. While leading a small strike team consisting of people who were all older than she was. While part of her instinctively shied away from this task, another part of her relished the challenge. They don't call you the Phoenix for nothing. You can do this, she told herself, and she felt a small smirk lift her lips.

Allyce materialized out of the shadows; she had been watching there for awhile, still unsure about her new 'friends'. She walked over to one of the couches and lightly sat down on the arm of it, looking expectantly at Phoenix.
Ben walked into the room, and seated himself at the opposite end of the couch Silent Shadow was sitting on. He was prepared for this meeting to begin. It was really bad that the Avengers had been kidnapped, and if they really had been, he had no idea how THEY would make it without being captured.

Tanya glanced over at Allyce and Ben, her expression impassive and subdued. Her keen eyes picked up a bit of contention going on in Ben's expression. She sighed inwardly, although she had to admit that she, too, would be nervous if she was in his position. However, she didn't speak to them; she only nodded a greeting before transferring her gaze back to the door. She wanted to wait for the others before truly beginning the meeting.

Silent Shadow took a deep breath and disappeared. She invisibly walked out of the room; the door had been left ajar by Ben. Once out in the hall, Allyce wove her way through the halls stopping before a door at a dead end. She glanced up at the plaque that hung upone the door, and held in a sigh. It bore her fathers name, as she had expected. He had a position in S.H.I.E.L.D. and had never told her anything. She began to wonder why he never told her, but assumed he was sworn to confidentiality. (big word!) She shook her head and stalked back to the room, and stood leaning against a corner, going from invisible to a shadow, silently waiting for the others to join them.
Ben raised hie browns when Allyce left, but thought nothing of it. She was always doing it; he assumed it was out of boredom or to show off. He looked closely at the soft fabric that coated the couch, and began to inspect the little swirls of it. It was reassuring, in a way.

Eden walked into the room, scratching the back of her head. The room was silent, so she didn't say anything to break the silence. She just sat in a chair and played with her fingers. She always had a nervous habit of playing with her fingers. Quietly, she made fire at the ends of her fingers in boredom. Eden couldn't stay in this much silence for such a long time.
Linkin waltzed into the room, unintentionally. Some of the things he did were gracefully, thus, his entrance was a little too much than need be. He looked over the other occupants of the room and examined them for a bit before sitting down.

Ben looked over at Linkin as he 'waltzed in'. He chuckled within himself, then looked at Eden. She was pretty, in a super human way.
Allyce melded into the shadows and re-appeared on the arm of the couch where she had been earlier, glancing quietly around the room.
Ben decided someone had to break the silence. "Phoenix, we are all here. Would like like to start us off?" He said in a quiet fashion, being blunt in his own, not really authoritive way. Water pooled within his hands, out of boredom. It beaded into water droplets, and drifted up; basically raining up instead of down. It soaked through the ceiling, and continued on its journey to the sky.

Tanya couldn't help but lift an eyebrow at Linkin's somewhat overdramatic entrance, but she didn't comment on it. Superheroes, she knew, had a penchant for drama. However, she couldn't help the way her body stiffened at Ben's quiet words. Her steely gaze shifted sideways to rest on the southerner. "I know that," she said quietly, her voice a warning. She knew that she had to assert her authority now before the others had a chance to question it. "I will run this meeting on my own terms." She released him from the full force of her gaze before transferring it to land on each of the others in turn. Her usual sarcasm was gone, devoid in the impassive expression she struggled to hold as leader. "You know why you are here," she began, but paused a moment later, her brow furrowing. Then she shook her head and the leaderly mask was gone, replaced by one of mischief mixed with urgency. "You know what, screw this professional leadership crap. Nick- excuse me, Director- Fury wants me to lead you guys, and sure, I can and will do that. But we all have to trust each other, first. We're all equals here, so call me by my given name." Her gaze fell momentarily on Ben before returning to the room at large. "And I will do the same to you. God knows we all need some sort of familiarity with someone. It's a tough life, being a "superhero", and it's only going to get worse." She paused to allow them to absorb the full force of her words. "We have to work together."

Of course we do, Ben thought to himself. He realized he wasn't very affected by Tanya's gaze, but didn't return it as he wouldn't want to be the leader. He's too nice and outgoing for that. Ben thought for a moment before saying, "None of us have ever worked together, and, maybe its just me, but we haven't worked with someone else. So this whole 'team' thing is a new term for me- or us," He picked his words carefully as he spoke, his southern accent hinting at his quiet words.
Allyce looked around; she didn't trust anyone. Sure, she was going to work with these other superheroes, but she never has trusted- or wanted to trust- someone else. She had always been a shadow in the background; especially when she was fighting crime. "I haven't worked with someone else before either," She spoke up.

Eden finally spoke up after a while," That's kind of why we're here. Though we have no experience with other individuals, we're basically here to practice this "teamwork" thing and find the Avengers. This isn't the first time this has happened and it's certainly not going to change over the course of the years."
Linkin just sat there, wanting to have no part of the conversation. He just wanted to be alone and secluded where he could just think and relax in peace.

"Eden's right," Tanya replied, picking up instantly on the thread of the other girl's meaning and weaving it into a quilt with her own words. "If you haven't worked with anybody before, then now's the time to learn. And I suggest you learn well." She lowered her gaze on all of them once more. "We have a bit of time to get to know each other before we go to rescue the others, however; Director Fury is still searching for more information on their kidnappers. We have to make a pit stop in New York to pick up one more person, first," she informed them with only the slightest knitting of her brows. "Director Fury insists."

"What's his name?" asked Linkin, his voice a bit hoarse since he just talked now.

"Peter Parker." There was a wry smirk on Tanya's face now as amusement won out over the other emotions on her features. "I'm sure you've heard of him before. You all may know him better as Spider-Man."

"I've been to New York before. He's been on almost every Tabloid there," Linkin said, looking perfectly bored. "It sickened me a bit, seeing it almost everywhere I went."

"Okay, look, we're not going to start on that now," Tanya snapped irritably. "You haven't even met the guy. And didn't I just get finished telling you guys to be nice?" She frowned disapprovingly at him before rising to her feet and flapping her hands at them in a gesture that meant 'you can leave'. "Meeting's over. Come back here in an hour so we can meet our plan. A cafeteria is down the hall, as is another lounge with some games and stuff for passing the time. Just make sure to come back here."

Ben sat on the couch, unmoving. His irritable gaze fled around the room, and stopped at the door. He stood up and briskly strode out of the room, without a second glance behind him. Even though he hated to admit it, he knew they would probably need Peter's experience. He headed to the elevator and pushed the down button, telling it to take him to a training area. Stepping off the elevator, Ben glanced around the quiet stone room in the basement. It was hard to believe that the Avengers had been down here before, depleting the punching bag storage. He chuckled to himself and Hagan to shift his weight around, finding his center of balance.
Allyce faded back into the shadows, and thought to herself. She had an hour to do what she wanted.
