"Echo's right. I mean, not that we all couldn't handle it, but there's still the whole modesty thing," Ryan agreed. "We just really need a roof so we won't get rained on, and a raised floor so we don't get flooded in our sleep."
"I'm s-sure there are," Layla commented, still with that slight, embarrassing hitch in her voice. Her cheeks were slightly pink, but she forced herself to continue. "If we find a way to c-catch them, that is."

"Of course. Well, lets lay down the base, then a simple three side walls with a ceiling. and if we have time we can finish the fourth wall, but I don't believe we will," Thane geustured up at the sun.
"Great idea," Ali told Linkin. She led them back to the river, stopping at a falled down log. "Men first in dangerous situations," Ali said, pushing Linkin forward. "Besides, I don't know if I could make it across in wedges," She chuckled. She walked back, purposely bumping into Layla. In a barely audible whisper, she said, "If you want to impress the guy, stop your effing stuttering. It's getting annoying." She walked up to a tree and leaned against it, pulling off her wedges.

Heat blossomed brilliantly on Layla's cheeks and neck, and her full lips dropped into an uncharacteristic scowl. "It's not like I do it on purpose," she snapped with startling heat, then hesitated, blinking with surprise at her own vehemence. She cast a sheepish glance toward Linkin before her gaze fell again.
"Sounds good," Ryan agreed amiably, picking up a few more appropriate slats of wood. "Now, we can't nail them together or anything, but maybe we can put these over our heads by propping them across some tree branches. It won't be perfect, but it should be sufficient."

Linkin nodded and started on his way across the log. His steps were slow, careful, and steady. He dared not look at the water. He would fall if he did.
Echo nodded and scratched the back of her head. "It's a great idea, but what if we pile logs on top of each other and then place a roof on the top? Because the sticks would be rather thin."
