"Cool." Layla smiled tentatively at Linkin before glancing away again. "I guess you already know my name," she added with a hesitant chuckle.

"I know plenty of girls into skateboarding and comics," Ali commented. Not that she had hung out with them, but she did know plenty.
Thane nodded in agreement, looking over at Layla again. He waited for an answer to his previous question.

Echo shrugged. "Can I go with the guys? I'm not very...comfortable with girls. I mean, yeah, I have some friends that are girls, but that's only 2. I basically hang out with guys."
Linkin rolled his eyes at his sister, but smiled at Layla. "Yup! Never forget a name."

"Sure," Layla replied with a shrug. "How about we girls go for food and the guys and Echo can look for shelter?" she suggested.
"Sounds fair enough," Ryan agreed with a nod.

"Cool," Echo said, standing over by the boys.
Linkin shrugged. "To make it even, I'll go with the girls. Plus, I'll make sure they won't get hurt." He headed over to the other two girls and he felt something poke his back. Echo had handed him her pocketknife.

Ali eyed the pocketknife for a moment before turning. "So we meet back here in an hour or so?"
"Yes, off we go!" Thane said, and walked over to the creek. He looked along it and saw a log that stretched across the river. He headed away from the girls and Linkin, and towards the bridge.
Ali turned away and walked in the other direction, angling deeper into the forest.

Echo followed Thane, hands stuffed in her pockets. She hadn't noticed any of the cuts on her arms and two small ones on her cheek and forehead.
Linkin followed after Ali, looking around for anything good for eating.

Ali looked up and saw a bunch of yellow clusters atop a tall tree. "Those must be bananas! I would climb up but..." her voice trailed off as she pointed at her dress.and wedges. "Well, I wasn't planning on this little side trip." Ali frowned, then looked at Layla and Linkin.
Thane reached the log and pressed on it to test how steady it was. Wiping his fingers, he said," Seems stable, but it is very slippery. Let me help you across," he offered Echo his hand.

Linkin shrugged. "I'll try, unless you'd like some adventure," he said, looking at Layla.
Echo shook her head. "I'm fine. I was just in a plane crash. I think this is the least of my worries." She then waited for him to cross. "You can go first."
(Sorry if she seems a bit cold xD It's just how I made her.)

Thane shrugged, and stepped up onto the log. He walked across quickly, making sure to maintain his balance. Once he was on the other side, he motioned for the others to come.
Ali ran her fingers through her hair, which was straightening out. She pulled a hair tie out and pulled it into a ponytail, then stuck a headband in to smooth out the top. Alison looked at Layla expectantly.

(Don't worry, cold characters are the best xD. Right up there with slutty characters and uber stubborn characters. (The last two were a joke, btw xP)
Layla glanced up at the tree and shook her head violently.
"N-no. You g-go ahead," she stammered to Linkin, her blush darkening. She really wasn't good at this people stuff without the comforting presence of her brother at her side.
"Ladies first. Well, second," Ryan amended, rolling his eyes at his mistake before shooting his friendly grin at Echo. It wasn't a one-person kind of grin; he had been smiling like this at everybody all day. He preferred to look at things in a positive manner, and his goal in life was to help people feel the same way.

Thane waited quietly for the others to cross. He looked around for a moment, taking in what they could possibly use for a shelter. He figured they could either build a shelter, or find one and adjust it to their needs. He preferred the latter; it would be easier for all of them.
Ali listened to Layla's stammer. "You don't have to freak out, he just asked if you wanted to climb a tree," she stated pointedly.

Ali sighed. "It's all right," she said, trying a different tactic. "For now, we are all family. You don't need to be nervous around us," Alison said in a soothing tone. She reached out gave Layla a brief one armed hug.
