My name is Tanya Smith- or, as you may more commonly know me as, the Phoenix. I defend the region of Chicago, Illinois, just as Thor defends Asgard and Spider-Man defends New York City. You think I look too young for this sort of thing? Well, I'm nineteen. I'm old enough.

I'm here with S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers Initiative. Yes, I know, the Avengers have all been created and they saved Earth once already. What do you think I am, an idiot?
Well, now they're gone. Missing. Poof. Nick Fury wakes up one morning, calls Natasha Romanoff, no answer. Clint Barton was also a no-go. Steve Rogers? Well, he and Dr. Banner tend to keep to themselves a lot, but even they couldn't be found. Tony Stark supposedly disappeared right out of his bed. I've been informed that even Thor is missing. (No idea how we figured that one out, but whatever.) Since this is horribly coincidental- unless they all just went on vacation together- the assumption is that they've been kidnapped.
So Nick Fury finds me. I guess I was the next highest on his checklist of superheroes. I didn't particularly want to be an Avenger, or perhaps I wasn't high enough on that list. I knew S.H.I.E.L.D. was keeping tabs on me, anyway, just in case.
Well, here I am. But I can't do this alone, and that's where you come in. We're their next bet. The Avengers are depending on us. The world is depending on us. Help us save them. Please.
